The Farting Fish

I have written a fun book called The Farting Fish. It is a story that takes place in water so I would like the illustrations to be done in watercolour in a very loose style. Colours are to be bold and strong.

The story is about a fish that holds her breath in and grows bigger and bigger, (looking similar to a puffer fish). Each page the fish is a different colour and has a different shapes on his body. And each page a different fish makes a remark., the characters include a spanner crab, big eye tuna, leather jacket ,blue groper, red rock cod, but can include other fish in the background, as the setting is an ocean full of fish. Be mindful though that they have to be Australian saltwater fish.

Only one illustration needs to be done for the competition and from that a winner will be chosen to finish the book. My budget is $1200US for 12 illustrations plus front and back cover. The page size is 216 x 426.

This the verse I would like you to illustrate - it is not refined yet but at least you get an idea..

With great effort, he held his breath in,
his face so squashed he had multiple chins.
A caring blue groper started to cry,
“If you don’t breathe out, you will surely die.”

He grew and grew, as big as a basketball,
so that he didn’t really look like fish at all.
His colour changed from apricot to a striking pink,
squares turned to circles. What do you think?

The circles need to be in different colours.
